"We Were On A Break!" is a famous recurring line by Ross Geller (actor David Schwimmer) that has its roots in the fifteenth episode of the third season of Friends, titled "The One Where Ross And Rachel Take A Break".

What was "The Break"?
“Taking a break from US” means “we are no longer together” or, to put it more bluntly, “We are now broken up.” Rachel (Jennifer Aniston) initiated the “break”and because she made no effort to clarify her stance, Ross believed this gave him license to sleep around, causing Rachel to give him a hard time when he slept with someone else. Classic.
